Important Persons born or who resided in the Parish:

- His Highness and Mighty lord Charles Eugene Gabriel de la Croix de Castries, Marquis of Castries, Earl of Charlus, lord of Murat la Rabbe, Châteauneuf, Saignes, Granges, Tauves and St Save, baron of Monjouvert, Dampierre, caporal of the King’s armies, governor of the cities and citadels of Montpellier, mayor and seneschal of Montpellier, king’s lieutenant of the Languedoc province.

He became minister of the Navy under Louis XVI.

- Pierre Chanut, ambassador of king Louis XIV

He was appointed ambassador in Holland and Sweden. The king held him in high esteem and placed his trust in him. He corresponded with Descartes and witnessed his last moments. He had close relations with Pascal. He left some odd reports in which one can see how he tried to prevent the queen Christine of Sweden from abdicating. He died in 1662. His son Martial Chanut, born in 1611 was abbot of Issoire, chaplain of queen Anne of Austria and general visitor of the French Carmelite nuns. His nephew Pierre Chanut who lived in la Monselie was a judge and administrator of the goods of the marchioness of Bourbon. He had some descendants.

Today the village of Arfeuilles has two Chanut families whose ties attest a common origin.

- the Marquis of Bourbon Malauze which made its residence at the castle of Murat la Rabbe.

- Lord de Castella, archbishop of Lyon who, as being related to some rich person family of Pouzadoux, paid several visits to the village.

Chavany, priest.

Died in Lauzeral on August 7 1862, former priest of Chaillot, at the age of 71 (death certificate in Antignac)

When Muradès became the county town of a municipality, his brother Jacques Noël became mayor of Muradès. Strangely enough, Jacques Noël wanted to be buried in Menet.
